Giving Effective Feedback

Focus your feedback on specific and observable things.
Avoid abstract or general words. Own your perception by using “I” (think, feel, believe) statements.

Avoid evaluative statements, “good” “bad.”
Talk in terms of “more” or “less”.

Balance your feedback.
Start with the positive than move to suggestions or changes.

Suggest changes that can actually be done.
Be realistic.

Do not overload the person with information.
Be sure the person is ready to listen.  Monitor how much you share.
